PORTRAIT CLASSES with Cecile Langham Cothran
LEARN TO PAINT USING THIS TIME HONORED METHOD
Beginners & Advanced Students Welcome Fall Quarter Begins September
Winter Quarter Begins Mid January
Charleston artist and gallery owner, Cecile Langham Cothran, has been designated an instructor of The Portrait Institute, New York City, and will be teaching the John Howard Sanden method of the single sitting portrait technique at her studio in Charleston, SC. Sanden's approach employs the timeless practice of the one sitting portrait, painting a live model. Cothran is the only artist in South Carolina to be named an instructor by Sanden.
"I first approached Mr. Sanden about teaching in his program and was accepted early in 2003, but I had just opened my gallery and studio in Charleston the fall before. I just thought maybe I shouldn't take on so much at once," says Cothran, "but the gallery is running smoothly now; and I love teaching. So, I got back in touch with the Sandens, and I'm excited about getting this program off the ground in Charleston."
Charleston Art Gallery & Portrait Studio is at 10 North Atlantic Wharf, between East Bay and Prioleau ( at the Waterfront Park) in Charleston's French Quarter Art District ( East Bay Parking Garage across the street.)
The ten week sessions will be repeated quarterly with accommodations for beginners or advanced students. You may reach Cothran at 843.724.3424 or by email at info@CecileLanghamCothran.com. Please say "instruction inquiry" in your subject line.
